ESL Training Services was started in 1988 by Glenda Reece to meet the needs of international business leaders coming to North Carolina's Research Triangle Park. She was already active in teaching English to internationals in the North Carolina public school system and as a volunteer in a church-based ESL program. In addition, she had previously served as the Program Director of ESL to Vietnamese refugees, and as a faculty advisor for the ESL program at Wake Technical Community College. She also had served as President of the North Carolina and South Carolina chapter of International TESOL (Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages).

Ms. Reece is a teacher and teacher trainer who regularly speaks and leads seminars in many state literacy conferences across the U.S. She also has trained University Professors in China and English teachers in Brazil, and is the author of English Lessons From The Bible: Book of Mark, a two volume ESL textbook, Twelve Topics For ESL Beginners, a secular workbook that is especially good for use with students who are not familiar with the English alphabet, and Bible Verse Chants, a book of ESL chants. She has produced numerous training aids and materials including books, booklets, CDs, DVDs, and webcasts.

Preston Reece has been part of ESL Training Services since his retirement from the computer industry in 2005. Before his retirement, he managed and directed many hardware and software departments with Honeywell, Data General, and Tangram Enterprise Solutions. At Tangram, which is now part of Hewlett Packard, he held several senior management positions including Vice-President of Product Development and Services.
